When I was a kid I hated tomato sauce, and would eat only white Hawaiian pizza. No sauce (revolting)—just cheese, ham, and pineapple. And man, I would scarf that Hawaiian pizza with a vengeance. By high school I’d warmed up to the joys of tomatoes on my pie, and I found a job in a little pizza joint called HomeBake Pizza Shoppe. It was the perfect high school job—roll over to the pizza shop where I “worked” with my buddies, blaring Bob Dylan and Bob Marley, unsupervised by adults, making pizza all night long. The shop was called HomeBake, for god’s sake. I’m sure you can figure out the rest.
