Magliocco, calabria in southern Italy was home to a total of 538 ha/1,330 acres of dark-berried Magliocco vines in 2010, made up of Magliocco Canino, a late-ripening likely relative of Sangiovese, and the probably more common and more tannic, Magliocco Dolce. Librandi have made efforts to revive it as a varietal but it is also often blended with gaglioppo.
