The Sacramento River Delta is where Bay Area asparagus is king. Here, asparagus can grow to be over an inch thick in peak season, and it blesses the Bay usually from mid-March to late May. It’s one of the harbingers of spring. Its grassy, vegetal flavor pairs wonderfully with butter, cream, lemon, and herbs like dill and basil.
