  • About

As a young man, Jesus Espinoza arrived from Mexico and worked as a day laborer in Napa planting grapevines. Over thirty years later, he is the owner of those same grapes. In 2005, Cruz Calderon started construction of the prestigious wine cave at Caldwell Vineyard, where Jesus worked as vineyard manager. In 2010, the two men forged their friendship, and Scalon Cellars was born within the cave that Cruz constructed and using the fruit from the vines Jesus planted. In 2014, Napa Valley’s hundred-point winemaker Julien Fayard joined the Scalon team. Julien’s practices as a winemaker employ traditional, low-manipulation winemaking methods, always preceded by carefully considered viticultural decisions, a process that leads to the creation of esteemed traditional wines. scaloncellars.com
