Garcinia atroviridis. This is similar to Asam Kandis (q.v.), but the fruit is rather larger. To prepare it for use in cooking, it is thinly sliced and then dried in the sun. In this form, it can be bought in Holland and also in London, where, however, it is sometimes labelled ‘Tamarind Slices’. In general, it may be found in Chinese groceries in all parts of the world blessed by their presence.
