This vermicelli-like shredded phyllo pastry comes frozen in 1-pound packages. It’s used in desserts and to wrap savory foods before frying to create a crunchy crust. Kataifi is sold in ethnic and Middle Eastern grocery stores (see Sources). Thaw following the package instructions.
