In North America Angel Cake is often called. Angel Food Cake - some say it is because this cake is so light and airy it must be ‘food for the angels’. There are no egg yolks or raising agents in this cake, so it relies solely on the beaten egg whites to give the cake its airiness. I have made a raspberry angel cake but you can add any flavour you like, or none at all if you prefer. And I find adding extra colour is always a crowd pleaser for a children’s party.
