You need a silicone cupcake pan for this recipe. This way you can “paint” the chocolate inside, then peel off the insides.
Put the chocolate and shortening in a bowl and melt in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take it out, give it a stir and then microwave for another 30 seconds. If it needs a little more time, stick it in for another 30 seconds. Do not do it for longer bursts or it will ruin (or “seize”) the chocolate. Set aside some of the mixture, to cover the tops.
