(This is a suitable quantity to make at home. It will make between 8 and 12 jars, depending upon the size.)
Place the whole fruit in a basin of lukewarm water and give them a wash and a gentle scrub. Remove the button where the stem would have been. Place the fruit, whole, into a saucepan with the water and cover with a lid. Bring to the boil and simmer gently on a low heat for 1½–2 hours. You should be able to easily pierce the skins of the fruit when they are ready. Remove from the water and leave
