Gunn’s Rhubarb and Strawberry Cake

Every spring my mother would drive over the hills from Braemar to Aviemore, and head to the Inshriach Nursery to select alpine plants for her garden. It was an annual ritual. Years later, I developed a ritual of my own, as I would take my children to the Potting Shed at the back of the Nursery, where we could watch red squirrels shimmying up trees, woodpeckers and blue tits landing on the feeders, and eat cake!
