Ingredients: 2 eggs, beaten; grated zest and juice of 1 lemon; ¼ cup (60 ml) brandy; ⅔ cup (100 g) chopped dates; ⅓ cup (50 g) chopped mixed candied fruit; 2 tbsp (50 g) honey or golden syrup; ½ cup plus 2 tbsp (150 g) cold butter; ½ cup (100 g) packed dark brown sugar; 1 cup (150 g) currants; 1 cup (150 g) raisins; 1⅓ cups (100 g) fresh white bread crumbs or 1 cup (100 g) plain dried bread crumbs; pinch of freshly grated nutmeg; pinch of salt; 1 tsp cinnamon; 1 tsp ground ginger; ¾ cup (100 g) all-purpose flour; 1 tsp speculaaskruiden (see Note)
