These are light, sweet, crumbly scones that are ready in no time. Serve with unsweetened crème fraîche and grapefruit & lime curd (facing page).

Method

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Quickly blend in the butter and buttermilk to form a smooth dough without overmixing. On a lightly floured surface, pat the dough out into an even slab. With a cutter or drinking glass, cut 2½-i
