Beijinhos de coco are the perfect partners for Brigadeiros and one is hardly ever seen far from the other. The name means ‘little coconut kisses’ and if you get the job of handing them round you will always be the most popular person at the party!

Ingredients

  • 225 g/8 oz/1 cup caster (superfine) sugar

Method

1 Mix the sugar, milk and butter together in a pan and bring to a boil. Simmer for a further 15 minutes, stirring constantly.

2 Remove from the heat and add the coconut, orange juice, and the orange and lime rind. Mix briefly, then add the egg yolk and stir well.
