Banana meringue pie

Brazilians are banana connoisseurs, choosing from a wide variety of types available on any fruit stall to create a myriad of different dessert and main course dishes. This triple-layered dessert is a luxurious way to enjoy the very popular banana prata (silver banana), the most popular banana in Brazil; it is similar in flavour, but slightly shorter and fatter, to the Cavendish banana, the usual exported variety.
