Brazilians eat a whole range of beans and pulses, but the black bean is by far the most popular, and forms part of the national dish, feijoada. For many Brazilians this humble dish, Feijão - beans cooked with onions and garlic - is everyday eating. High in protein and iron, this is an excellent economical dish which can be served to supplement a small portion of meat.
