This is a very simple version of the fruit fool, made pretty enough for a party by the presentation.
Any fruits can be used, or any combinations of fruits. A good one is greengage, rhubarb, plums and peaches. The following one is for all red fruit, though it is not necessary to use all four.
In four separate saucepans cook the fruits with sugar to taste. The cherries may need a tablespoon or so of water added to the pan, but the other, fruits will need no water if the saucepans are put on a very gentle heat and the contents gently stirred with a wooden spoon. When the fruits are soft and pulpy push them through a nylon sieve into four separate bowls.
Whip the cream until it
