Beryl Hill has made more ginger fluffs than she can count, but she still checks the recipe every time. The first woman to serve as president of Mount Gambier’s show society, she has been competing in the Lower South-East for more than 50 years. These days her entries line up alongside those of her daughter, Judith Wood, another formidable show cook, and Judith’s son, Geoffrey, who is fiercely competitive and has been known to beat them both.
