I had actually never heard of the joe frogger until I stumbled upon a bakery in maine selling these cookies by the dozen. They were huge—each one the size of a small pancake—and utterly addictive. Though I found the Joe Frogger in Maine, it is a native of Marblehead, Massachusetts, named after a famous resident, Joe Brown. In short, “Uncle Joe” supposedly baked these molasses-heavy cookies by the dozens for the fishermen and denizens of Marblehead, and he sold them at his tavern on Gingerbr
