The late Norm Hurst was 70 when he stopped working at iconic Uardry station in the New South Wales Riverina. Made famous for breeding the Merino ram that featured on Australia’s one-shilling coin, the property covers some 35 000 hectares of the Hay Plain and for almost 150 years was home to one of the country’s most influential sheep studs.
