James Berckemeyer began his training at Le Cordon Bleu Peru in 2001. After completing an internship at the renowned restaurant Astrid y Gaston, he traveled to Italy and completed a master’s degree in cooking in 2004. He then joined two Michelin-star restaurant Agli Amici. In Peru, he worked at Al Grano and moved up to corporate chef at the Sonesta El Olivar Hotel. He also consulted at Las Casitas del Colca (Orient Express 2010). In 2007, he had the honour of working at the three Michelin-star El Celler de Can Roca and at Arzak. Berckemeyer has participated in several international events representing Peru in Brazil, Portugal and Germany. In 2015, he was tasked with the gala dinner for the 70th anniversary celebrations of the UN in Geneva, Switzerland. Berckemeyer is currently the chef and owner of the restaurant COSME in Lima, Peru.
